We first had Kids Camp at the beginning we thought we would only have 5 kids we ended up having 16 and one young man gave his life to Christ! We also taught a class and at least 3 6th graders told me they were going to go into special service for God be it missionaries or pastoral they did not know. This year like last only my wife and I stayed at the cabin with the kids we had many in our church come and help during the day but at night it was us. We would get up at 7:00am and not stop till 8:30pm. It was all worth it. Then of course came Greensboro. I can truly say it was a great trip there really wasn’t any angry words from folks on either side at least not in public I understand some are angry with the results of the election but they didn’t seem to show it! So my wife and I are already planning for next year God provided this year thru a saintly Lady and we will be good stewards and save all year for San Antonio we also will take our 3 daughters with us. Next was VBS I have a great director who put her whole self into it and when things don’t go right she gets a little emotional but this year it was me that got emotional not in a cry baby way but in I am going to pull my hair out way! She calmed me down and we ended up with one of the best VBS since she became director with 2 salvations and many rededications we then had a week off and went to Branson with the family for a couple of days came back and got ready for Falls Creek our youth camp we thought we would have 50 students but because we were going on the 4th of July week we didn’t have the older students we had last year. The majority of students were 7th and 8th graders and last year the majority was 10th graders so it changed how we do things. The great thing about this year is we once again brought kids who do not go to church and have never really been around Christian adults we had 7 salvation 5 assurance of salvation and 3 rededication and 2 for missions we took 25 kids so God really moved! We also took 5 new sponsors 2 of which we have been working with and one who came surprised us and also 2 of our saintly older folks came which worked out great. They really had a good time and God moved in all of our life's! We are very blessed to be in a place that God set aside for us to minister in and I know my wife and kids feel the same. We got back and went on vacation to Wyoming were my wife's family lives. Her grandfather is 92 and her grandmother is 87 so we all went and seen them my mother in law stayed which is a good thing hopefully she will pull out of her depression we also saw my sister in law from Minnesota and her daughter who had her little boy (she is just 1 year older than my oldest….. Scary) he was very cute but was not around many men so he was a little scared of me. He did get use to me some what he let me feed him ice cream. We then went down to Colorado Springs and seen the Air Cadets training complex it was awesome in a valley at the base of the mountains very nice. We went to the Chapel on base and it was very cool. It amazes me that people can look on the beauty of nature and still not believe in God it screams God. I have been so busy that I did not keep up with the blog world and I have come to the conclusion that I will not post much any more it just takes to much time away from what is important don't get me wrong I am thankful for Art and Marty and Kevin B. And also for Wade and the many others who blog it just that I am not good enough at it to be good at other things and right now I have some young men who need to be discipled and that takes president over bloging I will keep my site and will when time permits read and comment on other sites my hope is that young preachers will take my advice on this and "See the lost saved, the saved Discipled, and God Glorified above all!"

I have been simply reading some of the post during the convention. (I really didn"t have time during or after and we are having VBS this week so I have had priorities. I know most of you guys are blogging and not witnessing. ;))
Kevin Bussey and his interview with the wako from westboro ( I know we all Love this Lady in the Lord but what a nut!) any way I could not even watch all 3 parts it is so sad that there are people that in the name of a god they spew that kind of hate, but is it any different than what was going on inside the Coliseum? Now don’t get me wrong they didn’t do it the way that lady did or did they? She would make a statement and if you disagreed with her she would call you a name like "whore monger"or "bimbo" and I am sure she called some one a "liberal" the very oh wait that's what was used in side! Do you see what I mean! I was very pleased to read on Dr Cole's post of the person or persons who made the comment to Dr. Vines. I believe this is what was said I was not present a the time but I will put what Dr. Cole posted.

From the bleachers, a man cried out that "Just because your name is Jerry Vines doesn't mean you get special treatment." I have to confess that I caught the uncomfortable sneer of Dr. Vines a time or two this week, but I really don't hold anything against him. He is a faithful preacher and a mighty spokesman for biblical values and personal holiness. I don't care who it is, but especially when it is a man who's done as much for the Southern Baptist Convention as Jerry Vines, such outlashed animosity is completely inappropriate. It is, in fact, downright rude. But the convention was stressful and people were saying and doing things that I'm sure they'll regret upon

I will admit that some things Dr. Cole has said before the Memphis meting were very unkind but I have noticed in his writing and his comments there is less can I say "bitterness" not sure if that is correct just my felling in the way it sounds to me. Most of the worst came from the Anonymous character that he and a few others used, he confessed and said he would not post under that title again. Have you noticed at lest on other sites (mine has very few comment but some do still read) that the Anonymous is less and less used. I think that is a great thing that to me means men and women can comment without felling that they must agree and that most bloggers are adults and can handle constructive criticism.
Can we all agree that progress was made in Greensboro? I know there are many who believe that San Antonio will bring out the Texans in drove but if we still fill the same way about the convention as we did a month ago then it is very important to be at the next one! I must say thank you to the dear Lady that sent my wife and I to Greensboro this year. You truly blessed us with your gracious gift thank you again! I believe that with the help of all of those who believe a change was a good thing their will be long lasting affects of this years convention.

It was in my thought a really good convention! Thank you to those very special people who made it happen for me and my wife we thank you and pray for you every day.

People I met.

I got the chance to met briefly with Art Rogers who is on his way to T-town and also met Wes Kenney a fellow okie. On the plain ride home my wife and I met a couple who most of the old guard on the flight paid respect to. (When I say old guard it is not in distain but in respect.) The folks on my flight were like Dr. Paige Patterson and Barry McCarty, and also Cliff Cummings, O yes and Dr. Ben Cole (I will probably get at lest one comment on this) the couple that most of the men spoke to were very happy with the conviction and seemed to be satisfied with the out come, the couples name is the Levels (pronounced La-veil). We talked about the convention and then we talked about Falls Creek many of you know that Falls Creek is the Largest youth encampment in the USA. (Some say in the world I have never left the country so I can’t in good consensus say that.) I found Rev. Level had preached at Falls Creek Many years ago and of his admiration of that camp ground. He said it seems almost every young man he has spoken to had a life changing experience at Falls Creek. I am proud to say I am one also. I was called to preach at Falls Creek the summer of 84. Very nice folks all, I wish I would have got to met and talk to Dr. Cole but I did not get the chance maybe anther time.

What to post next?

I am sure many of those that blog have nothing to post as far as the SBC goes that is until July when the IMB meets. I sure hope they do a serious investigation on the charges Wade has made and that it will be brought back to the convention with things being settled. I still believe public apologies are in order for Wade and I also believe that Dr. Tom should be sincerer or at least his inappropriate actions should be brought up even though he is no longer there. I will say this though if you have not read Wade’s Post “Imputed Righteousness or Imputed Nonsense?” you should it is one of his best. One of my favorite things about God is the fact that I have the Righteousness of Holy God though the shed blood of Jesus Christ in me and on me. One comment about the post is why do people always bring into every post by Wade the Calvinist issue. ( I know Wade is a Calvinist but he rarely injects that in his post only the comments do.) Righteousness is not a Calvinist issue it is a scriptural thing and every one should pay attention whether you are Armenian or Calvinist or neither one. Well I have been busy with VBS it is a shame the pastors in the mega churches miss out on sitting down with a dozen 5th graders and telling them those Great Bible stories.
I Love It!

AND THE SBC

I have read some about the IMB trustee meeting in New Mexico and I can say from my heart I am ashamed of the behavior of Dr. Tom Hatley and the other gentleman who are taking their parting shots at Wade Burleson even if you disagree with Wade this is not Christ like behavior and as has been stated many times by said former chairman that Matthew 18 should be used to check Dr. Tom. It is a disgrace that a man of God would use a podium to attack anther man. I know that it happens a lot in churches both by pastors who think it is their duty to call down those who disagree with them in front of the church and by leaders be it deacons or others to call down the pastor in a business meeting it is still very wrong. I hope that this does not discourage young preachers to not get involved. I can also see were if this was happening to a young preacher and not some one like Wade who is well versed in handling these things (I heard Wade handled himself well though he did say he was angry and he was thankful his wife was with him) a younger man may have reacted in a physical way i.e. punched Tom in the nose.
Young preachers need to go and stand for what is right. We need to when asked vote "NO" when the IMB presents their recommendations and stick to our guns. Yes there will be men like Ergun Caner who will get upset that we are trying to take over, we are not we are part of the SBC and will speak to what we have seen to be a poor example of leadership wither it be the "Giants" of our convention or not. Pray hard, speak truth with Grace and we will be all right. Things may or may not change right away but they will change if we keep on the path God has placed us on. Will you stand? Will you go? If not you then who? Lets make a difference in the SBC by asking God to use us any way He sees fit.

I have been extremely broken for these kids most of whom do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior. I worried that I would offended folks if I preached a evangelical message and would cause problems for the school which has allowed me much freedom in sharing Christ at the school. I called a good friend and a guy I call my Pastor and asked what should I do? His words “preach like you know you should.” We should worry less about offending people and start worrying more about what offends God! The service went very well the other Pastors in the other churches joined with me in Prayer before and the whole service was really good my oldest daughter played 2 songs and sang I believe one was Jennifer Knaap and the other was by a new girl Bethany Dillon. She did a great job! The first thing you must know is she is very shy but also very talented we moved to Ketchum from Sand Springs which is outside of Tulsa her jr. year and it has been really hard for her to make friends but Sunday night as she sang her class mates sat there with stunned looks on their faces none of them knew she could play little lone sing like that even her grand parents didn’t know. I preached about Being an example using 1st Timothy 4:12 Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
I also used 1st Corinthians 13:12 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For those who needed a Savior I used Romans 5:8 and I personalized it
But God demonstrates His own love towards Kevin, in that while Kevin was yet a sinner, Christ died for him.
I really wanted them to know that it is a personal decision and that u can’t get there on someone else’s Salvation. Then another Pastor gave the charge to flee from the temptation of miss-using your new found freedom. All in all it was a very good service and I fell God touched hearts. Please Keep praying for the 40 some young adults we have another chance to give them the good news this Friday at the Sr. Breakfast were all of the students will be there.

You could have read the article in ABP about the meting I personally made a comment on Marty’s site that I was not to sure about this and that it appeared to be the same kind of things that the old guard has been accused of. I asked some of the old guard like Villa Rica & Pastor Joe what they thought and I am glad I did. Now I said all of that to say this. What is the #1 thing in your opinion is wrong with the SBC? I would like to know I am going to e-mail or write to or even call if I have to the men who people keep mentioning (I.E. John Hunt, Paige Patterson, and Ergun Canter)and presenting this to them and simply ask how can we call our selves Christians if we are going to build walls between each other. I am putting my self out there to see if there is a anger buy anyone that needs to be fixed. Not that I can fix it but that God would use me as a conduit to get the flow of healing and settling of issues so that at Greensboro we can come together with one mind and that is to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be spread around the globe. It seems on the surface to be simple but I have been in church long enough to know it is never easy when Satan attacks. If you would like you can e-mail me rather than comment that would help to show there are others who want a lot of theses things to be settled or at lest out in the open. Thanks in advance.

Since we in northeast Oklahoma have been so dry we asked God to send rain by the bucket full.(be careful what you pray for.) The sky went dark and I mean night time dark it rained so hard it looked like a sheet of milk being poured out wind was blowing and hale was falling I watched from the window of my office and went outside to see if any tornados were about(that’s what we do here In Oklahoma)there was none but as I looked at the blackened sky I thought is this what it looked like when Jesus was on the cross? It makes you wonder when you see things like that as there are many storms both in our physical and spiritual life's. sometimes the storms do a lot of damage much like the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma or Katrina last year. There are other times that as bad as it might seem and as black as the sky gets the damage is minimal. limbs are downed leafs are stuck to your windows but there no bad damage only things to clean up. That was this last storm. I said all of that to ask what kind of storm will be in Greensboro in June? Will there be a bunch of "angry young men"( sorry Dorcas& Kiki and other ladies) at the convention? I sure hope not we already seem to have enough angry men there now. I read today in Wade's blog that there is a rumor that he will be censured, now I don’t know how true that is it but wouldn't surprise me. You may ask why? When your self righteousness is revealed you ether shrink or attack and some at the IMB have made the choice to attack. The main issue for me is that we all work together. Many of you have stated that you are Calvinist or Charismatic or Armenian. I am kind of a mix breed which probably makes me more disliked than most because I don't fully agree with anyone. I believe that you are saved by grace through faith that shows the works of Holy God in your life. Is this irresistible I don't know for sure I only know that God demonstrated his love for me that will I was yet a sinner Jesus Christ died for me! When I understood that there is a price for my sin and that is eternal death and that the only way I can escape is that my sin dept had to be paid by one who knew no sin. I believe that God is the same today yesterday and forever and that scripture is my guide since the gifts are there I believe that God gives them to those whom He sees fit to. I will say this If God gives me the gift of healing I will not have a healing service at my church but I will go to the place were those who are sick are. (the hospital) I believe Holy God wants use to be excited about what He has done and what He is doing we should sing and dance and raise holy hands to the King Of Kings. Is that being Charismatic? I don't know? I believe that He who saved you can keep you. Eternal live begins when you accept the gift not at death. I believe that if you are His you will have the fruit of the spirit in you life. Does this mean you will never sin? NO! it means we have a advocate who stands before Holy God making intersession for me. The Holy Spirit that lives in you will let you know when you fall and will chastise you until you get Right before God. I believe that being His is about having a relationship with a loving and Holy God that is His desirer that we would know Him more. In Christ alone I place my trust He is my source and my Hope and strength. Do not let the storms hid that.

I went to a conference at FBC Sapulpa (my old home church) and spent the day with some very good disciple makers learning that pastors are not the best disciplers but ordinary men and woman that love God and want to invest there life’s into a new believer. I am not giving pastors a pass on discipleship I am just stating a fact. I also learned that I have a good friend on the SBC committee on committees I actually spent the night at his house Friday we talked about all that was going on not only with the IMB but also with the NAMB. He let me know that if you are going to speak to a issue know more than just one side, for all the young preachers who are going to Greensboro to be counted make sure you have planted yourself in a place you want to stand in other words do your home work. I am grateful to Art Rogers and Marty Duren who are educating many of us on not just the issues but on how things work. I also found that another friend is a trustee on the NAMB board so I talked to him about what happened there. I also heard how there is a push by some to name a new President on NAMB will I was there he received about 6 calls seeking his support on what they wanted to do he mentioned a pastor Joe and I laughed as I told him about the blog lands pastor Joe I described all I know about him and he said it could be the same guy so Pastor Joe if that is you let me know. It is good to hear from these guys to listen to their take on what is going on and how this coming convention is so very important. There is one thing I would like to address is the nominating of Wade for Pres. Mind you this is my opinion I do not think it is a good idea to put Wade in this difficult situation it is not fair to him or his family and I believe he should devote himself to the issues in the IMB I fell God put him there for a purpose and it is not yet complete if we look hard and long there are other good candidates to put our support behind I just fell that it would be a bad decision to place Wade in this election. Let him spend some time as a trustee. We should be making sure that he has all of his rights returned to him so he is able to do what he was put there to do. I also think we should be asking a lot of Questions of the old guard as to why they do what they do. I think it is a good thing and I truly believe that they will answer if we are serious about making the SBC better. I know there will be those who fell they don't have to answer to a bunch of "young punks" (my word not theirs) but if all we do is rage against the machine we will not get much done. So consider this before you place all your support behind any person. Soon there will be things we can read and make decision on and we can talk both on the blog world and between each other whether by e-mail or buy other means we can make good informed decisions which is what we all want their will be those who show that all they want is power and their desires will be out in the open for all to see. We must be above that kind of power grabbing and if we are in the minority then we must re-examine what to do next.

So much to do so little of me to do it.
I guess I have a touch of the spring fever. Went fishing and tore it up. I got the sunburn to prove it. Thanks Bro Bill for taking me. I have been keeping up with the latest in blog land and have made a few comments. I was really sad to see Dr. Reccord resign though it was needed it is still very sad. I have been getting my proper proto call into order by Art on his site check it out if you need to know how the SBC does it's convention. Go by the SBC outpost to see what ideas are out their for a potential NAMB candidates there are some really good ideas one I liked came from Alan Cross, he would like to see our local DOM getting deeper into the NAMB mission field. You are probably wondering why I like that idea? Well I want young preachers to get involved in the SBC and one good way is to get involved with your local association. It is much easier to be a leader on that level and you can learn and grow in missions and in working with your peers. I also believe it gives young guys confidence to tackle tuff issues with out allowing it to become personal. You usually know the guys in your association and can seek out the older and more experienced men to help guide you along the way I am finding that many older pastors don’t want the jobs but are more than willing to help a young pastor with the job if he asks. So go for it. My dad who is a pastor in my association said he is going to nominate me for President next year so if he does and I am elected I will do my very best to serve it will be a privilege. If you think that serving at you local association is beneath you I would say don't try to serve at the state or national level you will get chewed up and spit out. I hope we all are involved at the local level at my association we have a pastors meeting on Monday at 10:30 in the morning at first it was a brag session but it has become more now because the men involved spoke up and made a directional change, we now speak on things that we deal with in our respective churches. We need to remember the greatest impact we can have as pastors is at the local level. So talk to your DOM and see how you can get involved seek out the pastors of the larger churches and seek advice build your resources and learn how to deal with others in a form much like our state and national conventions. If you are an associate pastor you may ask you Sr. Pastor if it would be ok if you got involved in the local association I think most would help you to learn more.
Learning to do local mission work is vital to reaching our world!
Lets all do our part!

I read were the NAMB and Dr. Reccord are having some troubling issues as well as The IMB fiasco we have all been keeping up with. I was thinking (I know that is very dangerous) what if we try to find a way were the young preachers and the leadership of all the churches could have a voice in the greater SBC. I mentioned it on Art's site as well as Marty's site. Here it is. Why can't we make a motion to change the process of electing our trustees to all of the boards? My idea is to take 2 people per a convention (In Oklahoma we have the BGCO) per a board that would make 100 trustees on each board (I know that sounds like a lot but it could work) and make regions like a south central region would be OKLAHOMA, TEXAS, KANSAS, MISSOURI, LOUISIANA, COLORADO, NEW MEXICO, and NEBRASKA. This is just a possibility but if we could get this in a motion and have good discussion in my mind it would be the best way for more churches to be involved. I know more than 2/3 of the churches in my local association will not be involved in any way in the SBC convention and almost all are involved in the state convention. We could then vote for men and women we know or can check out with out having to call out of state and it would put a face with a name and we would have a spokesperson that could report to each state on what is going on in our boards. If we had a question that person could either answer it our know who to call to get the answer and the missionaries could contact that trustee from their home state and request info or give info on what is needed on the field eliminating a bunch of middle men which could save money. We could also use technology to bring the regions together by using the tools so many businesses are using to cut down on travel and the abuse that some times goes on. It just a start to the many things that could be done differently to stop the power hungry or at lest make it harder to be in total control. Some have said this would never be done that those who have power will not let it go. Then they have made themselves gods over the one God and should be removed. I also know this to some would be drastic but it just makes a lot of sense to me. Let me know if you have a better idea I am just looking at ways to involve more churches and their pastors.

Thanks to all who put these "press releases" out for us to read and decide for ourselves. Lately even though I very much enjoy reading and commenting on site I have not done so. (Commenting that is) The reason is many if not all have affected me in some negative way. Its difficult to keep your eyes on Jesus when all around you there is great storms. (I kind off know what Peter must have felt.) The last 3 or 4 post by Wade and Marty have been real eye openers. Art Rogers has also had some very interesting post as well.
Some of the comments have been just as powerful as the post. I would like to address a few if I may to Dorcas even though there are men out there who would love to squelch your voice and ministry remember that you answer to the king and him alone and when you serve him with humility and love you can't go wrong also if any comments I made about J.D. were unkind it was not my intention and only wanted to point to the fact that we (and I mean almost every person I have ever met) make our decisions about people on what we see on the outside wither it be a degree or the size of church they serve.(see 1st Samuel 16:6&7) if it were not for strong godly woman I would never be serving God in the capacities that I am now serving.(my grandmother who has been gone over 20 years was defiantly a land marker) Many of the post have been powerful and if completely true very scary. On Marty Duren post he speaks of M's being terminated for working with other Non-SB believers and if that is true and there seems to be evidence towards that then we are in deeper pooh than I thought. (Can I write pooh here)? Wade Burleson post Zeroing In (Trustee Jerry Corbaley's Response To Missionary Ron West) I read it many times I still am not sure what Jerry is trying to say it seems in my oppion that he is telling us to hear what I am saying not what I am doing which if he were running for a political office I could see were he was going I may not understand his point but at least it would make some since. Some things that are encouraging me are comments by "ol timers" like Villa Rica and Pastor Joe (I wish Pastor Joe could blog I would love to hear his insite as well as Villa's) Many of you know I am a 3rd generation gospel preacher I talked to my dad J.D. Lancaster Pastor of FBC Spavina about all of this and he laughed and said are you sure this is happening I told him it's all right here and he just shook his head and asked how it got this bad. I didn't have a answer and as many of the young preachers that comment in their blogs and on the many others out there are talking more about leaving the SBC but I am like Bro. Villa if it's just me and him we will stay.

I have been thinking about some things that been beneficial to me and to my surprise one of the best have been listening to other preachers. This has been one thing that has pumped me up about bring Gods word to my folks. I say that it is surprising because I used to hate setting down and listening on tape or on the radio to some preacher probably because God was calling me to preach and I didn't want to. That being said when I first started here in Ketchum I didn't have internet access and I really missed hearing my good friend and pastor Doyle Pryor at FBC Sapulpa preach. When I did get hooked up I listened to the pastor at FBC Tulsa Deron Spoo my wife then told me about Johnny Hunt in Woodstock so I started to watch him (they have video) I also saw Mac Brunson at our state evangelism conference and have both listened and watched him (not lately since he moved from Dallas to Jacksonville) this year I have found another one that I saw at the EC he is form north Jacksonville his name is Herb Reavis. The reason why I listed these guys is you should check them out they are really good their I am sure many others please fill free to list your favorites I would love to listen to others also just one more thing do they (for those of you who have gone) have preaching at the SBC conference?
I sure hope this helps others it sure has kept me looking at Gods word and hearing it form other men of God

Have you ever felt that way? Last post I asked is any one listening and someone was they e-mailed me and said turn your comment on. (Thanks Wes). But I don’t know how. I hope I fixed it but I am not sure. This little problem got me to thinking. What kind of other "little things"do we allow to get in front of not only our walk with Christ but also the ministry that He has given us? Sometimes I think this IMB issue is doing just that. Taking our sites off of other important things. Don't get me wrong I know we should do something about the additions to the blue book (or did it replace the blue book I don't know apparently the trustees don't either) and also the leadership of the BoT. We cannot let it consume every thing we do. There are a lot of good things that have come out of this one of which is the young preachers are standing up and saying "I might not have a Doctorate and I may not be at a church which run at least 500 plus but I will take a stand on what I believe".

2nd. Missions has been brought to the fore front and not only what the IMB and the NAMB are doing but what the local church can do on it’s own you can see that in Marty Duren post "Missional church" and the comments made by Wade Burleson on the post "My Thoughts Toward My Fellow Trustees" much of which was the answer to the post by Steve McCoy on his site "Missional Baptist blog" and the post “Churches Louder Than Blogs”. It made me stop and think about how can I get the folks God has trusted me with to be more mission minded. That’s when I thought I wonder if I know what I am doing?

I started posting hoping to help young preachers find answers to these issues most of the times my questions were not answered but they at the very least got me to start seeking answers form smarter guys than me. I have been seeing a change in how we do missions and some of it is because the politics of the SBC, and IMB as well as NAMB are distasteful to many of the younger generation. I hope that we can work in changing some of this and that all of these great organizations will be better off for it. I also hope to see men like Marty and Wade (not saying that these 2 are or should step up only that men like them in their local areas should) step up to help train young preachers in how to make the church they serve be mission minded.

I hope I fixed the problem with my comments if I haven’t e-mail me and explain how to in simple English.

But it,s 2:42AM and I couldn't sleep so I have been praying and re-reading my sermon for in the morning (wait it is morning already) the title is "Tried by Fire" talking about Joseph and all that he went though to get him were God planned for him to be. I have been keeping up with the events in Tampa Bay and as I have read many things I am still wondering were I and many other young preachers fit into all of this. I am going to Greensboro and hope to find out a little more from fellow Okies like Wade and Rick both trustees at the IMB. I plan on being at the YPC and my hope is to talk about how we can re-focus on getting the very best young and old missionaries to go and attack the gates of hell as a friend of mine once said with a water pistol if needs be. I know that the IMB is doing a lot of good, but some in the leadership are going down a path of control that was never meant to be the SBC is as my DOM says a upside down pyramid were the largest part controls the smaller part i.e. the churches control the SBC this is in most cases a recipe for disaster. It has worked because our focus is on winning people to Christ through cooperating with each other though the giving of money and placing leaders to do what is best for the Kingdom not THE SBC. One of the things I have read is that the churches in other countries don't look like SBC churches can I say there are no SBC churches only Kingdom churches. We might be associated with the SBC but we are His church and I venture to say few are alike. We are different because the people in the churches are we are not all the same but we are all family. The other reason I haven't blogged is because I am not real sure anybody is listening I don't have a desirer for power I just want to learn how to be the best Pastor/Elder for the folks God has placed me with and I thought this would be one way to squeeze out some information it has had some success so it has been worth it. I will continue to post as long as I feel that it is of benefit iether to me or someone else.

IN HIM

Kevin

Yes I am a Eagles Fan!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I have been reading and really praying about some important things. One being if God wanted me to go to Greensboro and the SBC conference. God answered that and also though a lady from Kentucky paid for not only me but also my wife. I cannot even begin to tell you how blessed I am. I also have been asking God how young preachers can be involved in the SBC with out offending or making others angry. You are probably wondering how that can offend or make someone angry? I still don’t have that answer but I know it does. I have been reading Wade Burleson post on The Point Is Being Missed Yet Again and it is worth reading as is all the articles that are with it. Here is my comment to his post.
In Him
Kevin
Wade
I took a little more time to read and re-read all the information in your post today I hope that is the reason that you don’t have as many comments as of this afternoon. To be honest on the most part the 2 articles on baptism and tongues I agree with, but it seems vague to me when I compare the policy on the 2 issues. For instance in my opinion all but that last point on baptism I completely agree with. The issue is inside the church and who can “legally” baptize. If that is the case I know that two of my daughter’s according to my understanding of the policy would not be allowed to be a missionary. (Since I baptized my youngest as an elder and not an ordained Pastor. And if I am reading the policy right also my oldest daughter was baptized by my dad who is an ordained pastor but not the pastor of the church we were members of.) If I am reading it wrong what would prevent others from doing the same? According to the article on tongues it simply placed the personal prayer languages with that of the “Unknown Tongues”. I don’t agree with that opinion of scripture does that make me unfit to be a pastor of a southern Baptist church? I believe that will be the direction this will eventually take then as has been said the non-essential doctrine will now be right there with salvation. My question then is this what can be done? I agree that going to Greensboro is a start but at the same time to effectively make changes we will and must as the Young Baptist get involved with the SBC and also become leaders.(Which in my opinion is the reason many of the older leaders a saying we are just after the power.) You can’t make a change with out getting involved. My biggest issue is that the IMB is trying to be some kind of prayer and baptism police. When will that kind of thinking end? I like the explanation given by Dr. Storm on the tongues issue
But wait a minute,” responds the cessationist. “The crucial issue with Paul isn’t whether he speaks in tongues, but what is appropriate in the public assembly of the church. Paul is determined only to do what is cognitively rational and thus edifying to others in the meeting of the church.”
So, how do we resolve this problem? It’s really not that difficult. Paul has said that tongues-speech in the public gathering of the church is prohibited, unless there is an interpretation. Since the purpose of such meetings is the edification of other believers, Paul prefers to speak in a language all can understand. Consequently, he rarely speaks in tongues in a public setting.
However, if Paul speaks in tongues more frequently and fervently than anyone else, yet in church almost never does (preferring there to speak in a way all can understand), where does he speak in tongues? In what context would the affirmation of v. 18 take shape? The only possible answer is that Paul exercised his remarkable gift in private, in the context of his personal, devotional intimacy with God. Again, the only grounds I can see for objecting to this scenario is the reluctance that many cessationists (such as the majority on the IMB board) have for spiritual experiences that bypass or transcend the mind.
If I am off base on these Questions I would love to be corrected. I believe as Wade does that I can work with men who disagree in these matters as long as the Salvation doctrine is not add to or taken away from.

I still don't have a good answer the best would be that the older more seasoned Pastor would take a Young Pastor and come along side of him and encourage him give him good Godly advice (much like Paul& Timothy, Paul& Titus, Paul& Silas, ect.. ect..)There are men like that but they are few and far between. Why is that? What can we do to make that something we do when we are in the Position to be a Paul? Understand I am not Talking about discipleship but of helping to involve YPs in the leadership process, some older men have stated that the YPs should wait there turn and as they get older they will get the chance to "run things" but that to me and to many others is unacceptable. We as well as older Pastor of small churches would like to be involved in the process with the opportunity to lead. Is that so wrong? I am going to talk to and e-mail some Ministers to see what they did and to ask their opinion. I will get back with the results soon.

My heart is to set a place were ideas can be given to help young pastors get involved in the SBC in a positive manner if you are angry about something that is happening in the SBC or Your state or local association I would like to hear about it but please remember that this is not a grip blog. I would like to have it be a place were we can help in solving the issues that young pastors face, as well as a place were we can show Christ to be Lord.
I have been talking to my dad (who is also a pastor) about were he got help in getting involved in the SBC. He told me because he was a Bi-vocational Pastor he didn't get any guidance at all.(his dad was also bi-vocational) How do we get these men involved (ie the bi-vocational pastors)? What about those of us who are in small church's( but growing church's ...of which I am one)but can not afford to go to Greensboro NC this year and participate in the SBC conference. One thing I would also like to know is were are the men Like Adrian Rogers (who has gone on to be with the Lord)who are helping young pastors? I Know of some but maybe if we could get some of the Bi-vocationals and Small church pastors to know who thay can go to and ask these Questions this site might not last very long.(which is my prayer) I hope that in some way we as SBC pastors can do as Paul did for Timothy when he said:
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some.
Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness."

Many are Bloging to communicate with those of us who would never know the goings on in our own denomination. I do want to thank them and I also am praying for them. I have been thinking and would really like to hear from those Men and any other New or young Preachers in the SBC as to what we need to be the best Pastor that we can be. I am a 3rd generation Gospel preacher but have fond that both my grandfather who is with Jesus and my dad who is still serving as a Pastor have not had to deal with some of the things that I am dealing with. I do have good friend who are Pastors and are my age that I sometimes seek out for council but would very much like another form to exspress my concerns and the victory's that I have. If you are in some way like me please comment and let me know what you think.
